Unknown Brutalism Architecture In Hong Kong
Brutalism advocates the concept of "As Found": the pursuit of authentic use of materials, the truthful design of the current situation, so that the building presents the most objective reality.
In the 1960s and 1980s, between the post-war period and the economic take-off, Hong Kong began to breathe in sync with the pulse of the world. The stories of 20 groups of rugged buildings and 12 architects in Hong Kong introduced in this book show a sense of keeping up with global trends. The avant-garde design adds a cosmopolitan touch to the local cityscape. At the same time, it also reflects the cultural landscape of the time: unpretentious, the spirit of pursuing basic life.
The three-year-long study has attempted to fill in the gaps in history and open the door to discussion among professionals, conservationists and the general public in search of the "unknown" fate of these buildings: "Go"? Or stay?
