The Way We Are
The Way We are is the award winning of The Next Writer Publication Funding Scheme 2020-2021. The book was created by a local children's picture book writer and illustrator, with the help of Professor Sin Kuen-fung, Director of the Centre for Xi Needs and Inclusive Education of The Education University of Hong Kong, and Wong Chun-kit, Educational Psychologist of Heep Hong Society. The content mainly describes the small interaction between an autistic boy and insects, and unfolds from the ordinary daily life of the boy and his grandmother. From the perspective of a young boy, through the school and the community, it presents the inner world of a typical autistic child on the one hand, and depicts the sexuality of children with special needs on the other.
