Conserving James Wong
James Wong, a famous composer and lyricist in Hong Kong, has made milestone contributions to the development of Cantopop music, and his famous songs such as "Under the Lion Rock", "Shanghai Tang" and "A Laugh in the Sea" have been sung in the vast number of Chinese areas. After James Wong's death in 2004, a group of scholars launched the "James Wong Study" Project, spending many years collecting James Wong's columns, academic papers, manuscripts, musical scores, faxes, letters and other precious documents, and using the materials left by James Wong to explore his journey. This five-volume book shows the intersection of James Wong's life experience and Hong Kong's trajectory, his thoughts and insights on pop music, and his interactions with musicians of the same generation.
