A Memoir of Hong Kong Filmmaking
The English name of the production position is "Production Manager". As the name suggests, it is the project manager of film production. It is responsible for the big and small matters before, during and after the shooting, and ensures that the relevant people and things are progressing smoothly. The producer is also the customer service and crisis management job of the crew, responsible for handling any emergencies during the production.
This book interviews ten producers. In the 1980s and 1990s when Hong Kong’s production system was not yet sound, the behind-the-scenes stories of filming locations were often more exciting than those in front of the scenes. Their experiences are also part of the history of Hong Kong films. Telling the experience of Hong Kong film production is also a modern history of Hong Kong films.
